School Start Times

In the event of a two-hour weather delay, all start times will shift back by two hours. Dismissal times will remain the same.

Adjusted Start Times

• Big Creek, Central & West Elementary: 9:50 AM

• Middle School & High School: 10:20 AM

What Families Should Know:

• Buses will run two hours later than their usual pick-up times.

• Breakfast service may be limited or canceled depending on timing.

• School will still dismiss at regular end times unless otherwise noted.

• No AM Preschool sessions or morning activities. 

Families will be notified through Blackboard Messenger, the district website, and local news channels.

If weather conditions worsen during the day, North Polk may call for an early dismissal (one, two, or three-hour early dismissal).

Procedures:

• Parents/guardians will be notified via:

  • Blackboard Messenger text, email, and phone

  • District website & social media

  • Local news stations

• Buses will follow early-release routes.

• After-school programs and activities may be canceled.

Important Notes:

• Please ensure your emergency contacts are up to date in the Infinite Campus parent portal.

• Have a plan in place for your child in the event of an unexpected early dismissal.

The safety of students and staff is our top priority. We appreciate your flexibility during weather-related events.

Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, North Polk will implement a double-routing transportation system, designed to increase efficiency and reduce ride times.

Key Changes:

• Separate bus routes for elementary and secondary students

• Offset school start times to allow buses to run two shifts
